Developing a Web-Based System to Support the Operation of a Social Organisation

Abstract:
This article features a web-based system for managing the operation of a social kitchen in a municipal city. The aim of the system is to optimise the overall process of sourcing products, planning menus, preparing meals and delivering them to users of different age groups. The article’s methodology consists of a preliminary study of similar applications, an analysis of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as a discussion among users about the need for a reliable system. Based on the conducted research, the implemented web system includes functionalities to satisfy consumers’ needs. Scientific publications on the subject and existing legal regulations for social organisations in Bulgaria have been reviewed. At the next stage, implementation and promotion of the platform among numerous social kitchens and new users is planned.
