Abstract:
In the energy industry, smart metering and sensor technology provides access to unprecedented amount of information, thus rapidly expanding a dissimilar and compound big set of data which is handled by the Energy Management Systems. This manuscript per the authors presents a generic architecture of Energy Management System suited to handle structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, coming from various sources in a heterogeneous workload. The paper focuses on the main operational subsystems and the database management challenge in the Internet of Things.
